What should the Church prioritize in prayer? We often focus on health and well-being, but is that the main goal? While it’s not wrong to pray for physical needs, Colossians 4:3-4 shows us a greater vision for our prayers. Let’s explore it.

Christian workers should do their jobs as service to the Lord, even when unsupervised. Christian employers should treat their employees with respect, even if their performance falls short. Parenting is challenging and not an exact science, but God offers help to those who seek to honor Him. Colossians 3:21 warns against provoking children, which can discourage them. Parents can avoid this by teaching with God’s Word, providing structure, consistency, and a godly example.

Obedience. It’s not only for children. And it’s something that big people struggle with too. We come to this passage in Colossians 3:20 directed to children, but we’ll see as we go that this has important things to teach us all.

Love and submission in marriage is God’s idea. Not man’s. We may misuse what God commands, but when we honor God in marriage in obedience to His Word His commands are always what we need. His ways when obeyed always bring joy and peace to our relationships. Follow along as we continue our study in Colossians 3:18-19.

God’s Words are important and two words we find in Colossians 3:18 and 19 are love and submission. These are commands believers in Jesus ought to take seriously when in the marriage relationship. All believers, married or not, should understand these commands since the marriage relationship is an earthly example of Christ’s relationship to His church. Follow along as we begin our look at this passage.

God’s People are called to live and serve for God’s glory — and that means that we need to be devoted to doing everything in the name of the Lord Jesus. In word or deed, everything. And in Colossians 3:15-17 we see that also means we do all things with thankfulness to God. This is our testimony and witness to the world. Follow along as we consider Colossians 3:17.

Colossians 3:15-17 delivers a repeating theme of thankfulness that should be characteristic of all believers in Jesus Christ. In verse 17 we learn that thankfulness to God will flow naturally from the heart that is saturated with the Word of Christ.

Are you a thankful person? If so, why? If not, why not? Some people are thankful when they look around and realize things could be worse. But is that the kind of thankfulness the Bible teaches us to have? Follow along as we consider why we should be thankful and discover the source of our peace.

As God’s people put death that which is earthly in them, that which is sinful, and as they seek to put on as God’s chosen ones, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility and meekness they must also put on patience.
