With this sermon in John 6:60-66 we found many of Jesus’ disciples turning back and no longer walking with Him. Just as someone might dive into assembling something without reading the instructions, convinced they can figure it out on their own, there were many following Jesus who wanted the miracles, wanted a king, but had no real intention of submitting to His words. Jesus’ teaching that they must eat His flesh and drink His blood wasn’t hard to understand, it was hard to receive, because their hearts were hard. This sermon is a challenge to all of us: are we truly following Jesus, or are we just following Him around waiting for the next miracle?
