Last Sunday we continued our study through the Gospel of John, picking up in John 6:34-40. The crowd that witnessed the feeding of the five thousand is still missing it, still thinking Jesus is talking about bread for their stomachs. And Jesus doesn’t back down or soften the message. He says plainly, “I am the bread of life.” Not “I give” the bread of life, I am the bread of life. The invitation Jesus gave that day is still standing: come to me, be accepted, be kept, be raised.
